Fort Beau Programme at CINEMATEK

On the weekend of May 25 and 26, Pieter Van Bogaert, critic, programmer and curator, presents Fort Beau at CINEMATEK: a programme made up of a subjective selection of works and artists who reflect on the history of the last fifty years.

“Fort Beau is a story of beginnings and endings, a transition through which things are transformed. Bas Jan Ader and Ron Vawter (and Jacques Derrida and Sharon Lockhart) meet in the middle of the end. Manon de Boer takes me back to the beginning. Sirah Foighel Brutmann and Eitan Efrat (as well as Jean-Luc Godard, Emily Jacir, Herman Asselberghs and Els Opsomer) observe the reality beyond beauty (in Israel) and the beauty behind reality (for the Palestinians). With Dan Graham, I look for what connects young people of the past with young people of today. And Derek Jarman invites me to consider a pandemic that did not require immediate action by the authorities anywhere in the world.
