SLOW(36H)

In the weekend of February 23, SLOW(36H) at Concertgebouw Bruges gives visitors 36 hours to stop and pause. The festival of slowness includes concerts, musical performances, live radio, installations, lectures and visual art. Ive Stevenheydens (Argos) curated a free exhibition with video works in which standstill or slow movement is central. The trail – featuring work by Jef Cornelis and Els Van Riel – is a trip through the Concertgebouw that invites silence and aims to stimulate the senses. Not only will Sigur Rós 24-hour ‘slow television’ film Route One (2016) be screened in the Concertzaal, spectators can spend the whole Saturday night in the exceptional surroundings of the Magdalene Church during a “slow cinema” program. On Saturday morning, Rosas and P.A.R.T.S. are also organising the third edition of their Slow Walk. Four groups will stroll as slow as they can from the four different gates of the Bruges ring road to the Markt. There, people can participate in the workshop ‘My Walking Is My Dancing’, led by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker herself. You can browse or download the full festival booklet here.
