Festival de cinéma: En ville !

From the 2nd to the 9th of October, film festival ‘En ville !’ takes place in Brussels. Organized by Le P'tit Ciné – Regards sur les Docs, the festival proposes 19 films related to cities, most of them shown for the first time in Belgium.

A lot of filmmakers who live or work in Belgium get the opportunity to show new work: Lucie Martin (avant premiere of Demeure), Angie Obeid (Pacific), Pablo Guarise (Une chambre en Pologne), Evelien de Graef (Histoire d'un boulevard), Milena Trivier (Le murmure des lieux qui nous habitent), Théo Jules Côte-Willems (Mau), Guy-Marc Hinant (Charleroi. Le pays aux 60 montagnes) and Luc Jabon (Bruxelles-Brussel, une traverse urbaine). Their films are combined in programmes with well chosen older work – such as Babette Mangolte's Visible Cities (1991) or Luc Moullet's Toujours plus (1994) – or premieres of international films. The festival also values the importance of discussions, practice-based masterclasses, roundtables and encounters between the visitors and invited filmmakers.

The festival closes with Frederick Wiseman's Ex Libris: The New York Public Library (2017), which only had one late-night screening at Docville last year and remained unreleased in Belgium, as is unfortunately the fate of a lot of Wiseman's late work.

‘En ville !’ takes place in cinéma Palace, cinéma Nova and cinéma Aventure. You can find the complete program on the website of Le P'tit Ciné.
