elephy’s Moving Image Ateliers

From October to December, Brussels-based production and distribution platform elephy organizes a series of three one-day workshops for artists and filmmakers working alone or with small crews in the undefined territory between cinema and visual arts. Each Moving Image Atelier (MIA) examines a specific technical dimension of audiovisual production, like image, sound, or editing.

MIA #1 focuses on editing and file management. Andrea Cinel (curator and programmer at Argos) will talk about the history of Argos, its collection, and the changes in video formats and presentations over the past decades. Dieter Diependaele and Lennert De Taeye, frequent collaborators among elephy’s as well as Sabzian’s own filmmakers, will examine video editing and related (post-)production workflows.

During MIA #2, Luke Fowler and Alex Reynold will examine the creative potential of sound through discussion, case studies and listening sessions. They will unfold their concepts and process and share their approach and strategies towards sound recording and editing.

In MIA #3, Margaret Salmon and Noski Deville will consider the creative and technical process of image making and the related (pre-)production workflows. This third workshop will be followed by a screening and Q&A with Margaret Salmon as part of ‘We Love You’, a multidisciplinary programme on love beyond the romantic and the self at Beursschouwburg.

You can find the full program of the workshops here.
