Christian Marclay’s The Clock at Tate Modern

Christian Marclay’s acclaimed installation The Clock (2010) is on show at Tate Modern in London from 14 September until 20 January 2019. The installation is a 24-hour montage of thousands of film and television clips with clocks, edited together so they show the actual time (to which it can be locally synchronized). Following several years of rigorous and painstaking research and production, Marclay collected excerpts from well-known and lesser-known films including thrillers, westerns and science fiction. This epic work, which won the Golden Lion at the 2011 Venice Biennale, has been playing to huge crowds (with long queues) across the world and now return to the city where it premiered (at the White Cube gallery) eight years ago.

Admission to the screening is free. There will also be a series of overnight 24-hour screenings (from 10:00 to 10:00) on 6 October, 3 November and 1 December. On 24 September, Marclay will be present for an Artist's Talk with film theorist Erika Balsom.
