Artefact: Parallel Crossings

From February 21 until March 10, an new edition of Artefact takes place at STUK, Leuven. Artefact is an exhibition and festival on the crossroads of contemporary visual arts, current events and societal challenges. This year’s edition, titled Parellel Crossings, focuses on the theme of movement with an exhibition, a sound programme, lectures, workshops, performances and a film screening.

The exhibition, curated by Courtisane’s Pieter-Paul Mortier and Karen Verschooren, features existing and new works by 15 artists and collectives, including installations by Sven Augustijnen or Dušica Dražić and films by Ismaïl Bahri (Foyer, 2016), Luke Fowler (Enceindre, 2018) and Alia Syed (Points of Departure, 2014). Syed is also one of the artists in focus at Courtisane festival (April 3–7) and will give an artist talk at STUK on February 22. That same evening, Valeska Grisebach’s Western (2017) will be screened in the context of Artefact, followed by a conversation with the filmmaker.tonypabonartefact
