Libération obituary
André S. Labarthe – the middle S. would refer to the capital letter in CinemaScope – passed away on March 5. Recruited by André Bazin, he started in 1956 as a critic for Cahiers du Cinéma (the forthcoming issue will include a hommage). Together with Janine Bazin, he has also been producing the wonderful series Cinéastes/Cinéma de notre temps since 1964. » ). He (co-)directed the episodes on Walsh, Ford, Fuller, von Sternberg, Cassavetes, Jerry Lewis, Rohmer and Melville among others.
