De vakantie van de filmer [The Filmmaker’s Holiday] (1974), which is at once holiday film and manifesto of Johan van der Keuken’s poetics, he has often screened together with De tijd [Time] (1984), “because it seems to me that they are partly about the same thing: family (including the non-genetic family you choose in the course of your life), the interlocking of past and present, and something I call photographic emotion.”
